Introduction to Data Source Tracking

How Scanner, Cookies, Vendors, and Monitoring work together.

Last updated 2026-10-31

Data Source Tracking helps you observe what a public website loads and stores: cookies, browser storage, third-party requests, and vendor groupings.

Main pages

  • Scanner — start scans and review job status.
  • Cookies — inventory and categories for discovered technologies.
  • Vendors — hosts grouped under known vendor signatures.
  • Monitoring — store a daily or weekly cadence; an administrator still starts due checks.

Engines that actually run

Each scan URL starts an HTTP crawl and a browser crawl (when browser infrastructure is configured). Customer documentation should not invent separate HIPAA, advertising-policy, FTC, security, or accessibility engines as independent scan products—those labels are not separate customer engines in the product.

Observations can mention privacy-relevant themes in notes. That is not a legal conclusion.
